An old story I found...

I found this today. I wrote it as an assignment in 7th grade. Interesting enough.
Feel free to read if you dare! :D

July the 5th, of the year 1115

My name is Joseline. I am Princess of Debishire, a small place, which is ruled by my father. It is about 18 days away from Camelot, a place that all long to go. I enjoy being a princess. I am happy that at 17, I am yet to be married or betrothed. My father is a very good ruler, although the villagers do not think so. They think my father has been making very horrid choices against the villagers, which will bring down the castle and village.

My mother died eight years ago, giving birth to Robert, the youngest of four children. He grieves very much to know his mother. Next, there is Ammey, who is eleven. She is not well at all. She has a very bad case of influenza and a horrid stomachache. The servants that tend to her are telling father that there will soon be one princess of Debishire. The last and most irritable is my twin, Jeremy. It is his life goal to find out which one of us was born first. He has assured himself it is he that shall be next to rule. His conscience is not smart though, for it is I, Joseline that is the next heir to the throne. I fear Jeremy may get into trouble for not knowing the truth about us. I think it shall be a long time before I have to take over my fathers̢۪ duties and the throne, because he is in very good health.

Jeremy has gone with father and the villagers to see a jousting tournament. Ammey and I are not allowed to go because we are princesses. Robert is not allowed to go because father believes he is too young to see such a violent thing. He also believes that if Robert saw a tournament he may become more violent than he already is.

I am trying to start a journal. This, I believe, is a very hard task. I have tried to start a journal many times, but for some reason it never works. In fact, this happens to be the eighth journal I have tried to start. I do hope so that I will be able to finish this one. I shall try to succeed at writing once a week.

July the 7th, of the year 1115

Today father received a letter from a farmer saying his land has flooded. My father sent aid immediately. He told the leader of the group that if water had reached the man̢۪s house to bring him and his family to our castle. Of course, the villagers heard about this, and started taunting my father. Some are purposely flooding their land and writing letters to father, calling for aid. Father cannot overlook letters from the villagers. He has sent very few helpers to aid the horrid families that taunt my father.

While looking through his letters he came upon one from the King of Ebidshire. Ebidshire is a huge village twenty-eight days away. The letter said that he is looking for a wife. My father has invited him to dinner in three months. It appears he wants me to marry.

July the 10th, of the year 1115

Almost all of Debishire is flooded. Father says it is not safe here, anymore. He has sent Robert and Jeremy to speak with the King of Ebidshire. They are to ask if we can dine with him and if he can take us in until our village is renewed.

Debishire to Ebidshire, not much difference. Just a few letters changed around. I love comparing words. It calms my soul.

August the 27th, of the year 1115

I will soon leave to review the knights. I find this rather boring. However, I know the girls in the village love it. They get to see all those handsome young men in helmets. Robert and Jeremy are not back yet I am worried, for they should have arrived yesterday.

August the 29th, of the year 1115

I have happy tidings, at last!!!!!!! Jeremy, Robert, and a messenger from the king arrived last night half frozen. The messenger first told of how the king was having a ball on the 29th of September and wanted all, in our family, that were able to, to come attend the ball.
Father has sent us children immediately. I am bringing no dress elegant enough for a ball. I plan to run away the night we get there, and come back to father. I fear for father. The villagers have not been behaving well. Some are denying help from father to rebuild their homes. They are becoming very vile and vain.

August the 31st, of the year 1115

Our carriage driver has lost his way. He cannot find the way to either Debishire or Ebidshire. Since I am eldest I told him to go to the east. Since I am royalty, and he works for father, he had to obey me.

September the 3rd, of the year 1115

We have no idea where we are headed. My brothers say we are headed anywhere other than Debishire and Ebidshire. They say this because there are no landmarks that they recognize.

September the 8th, of the year 1115

I am going to stop writing the year, on my journal entries. I am tired. We have been traveling for eleven days and cannot determine where we are headed.

September the 15th

We are coming very close to a village. We cannot determine which village it is but we will soon find out.

September the 16th

We were driven out of the village, which we never went into. We shall try taking off the cover to our wagon, so they can see that we are royalty. Then we shall ask to see the King.

We have found out that we are in Camelot. We shall stay with the King until we receive a reply from father. The King has sent father a letter telling of our becoming lost and staying with him until we receive a reply. He has asked some of his maids to help tidy us up so we can be suitable to dine with him tonight.

Even though Ammey is not well, father insisted she come along. I fear that dinner tonight, may be one of her last meals.

September the 17th

It appears that we shall be staying in Camelot for quite a while. We shall not leave until one of the King's messengers comes with a reply from father.

The King also sent another letter to the King of Ebidshire. He wrote:

"Dear King,
"The princesses and princes of Debishire have lost their way coming to your castle. They are staying with, I, King of Camelot, until they get a reply from their father. I do not want you to worry, they are safe, and will soon be on their way.
"I hear that you are looking for a wife and have accepted an invitation of dinner. I propose you keep that invitation but fulfill it at my castle. I would be pleased if you, the King of Debishire's children, and I shared dinner on the 10th of October. Of course, I would allow you and Princess Joseline time together. I shall hear from you soon.
King of Camelot"

The letter should get to the King of Ebidshire in ten days. We shall not receive a reply from father until the fifth of November. The King of Ebidshire should return a message by the sixth of October. I hope both reply as soon as possible.

September the 20th

Today I met a young man called Sir Mordrid, the King's son, who I had not been able to meet before.
He was practicing jousting. I got mad at him because he was using a pig as the opponent. I consider pigs my best friends, since I am, practically, denied all other friends. I yelled at him because of this and his horse bucked him off.
He bowed at my presence, obviously knowing who I was. I saw he was wearing a royal sash, so I bowed to him. He said there was no need to so, I asked why. He says that he is being sent into exile for killing two of his dad's best horses and pigs. I told him that was a dumb reason and he agreed. However, he will not tell me where he's going to be exiled to. I think he fears I know the place of his exile.

September the 22nd

I have not seen Mordrid for two days. I fear he has been sent into exile already. I am taking no liking to him but I do admire his truthfulness.

I am to dine with my brothers and sister tonight. Ammey is becoming well. We are all happy for her.
At our castle Ammey could barely take ten steps without falling. Now she is up and about. If only father could see her. She has become good friends with one of the maids. No one knows the maid's name, but we are all grateful for her. She has given Ammey courage in herself.

September the 25th

My brothers have heard the King talking of not letting us go, when father writes. I shall ride outside the village so I can see father's and the King's letters first.

Later that day

I think the King suspects we know his plan. He has been questioning me lately. After telling him the answers to the questions asked, I questioned him.

First, asking where Mordrid was. He replied that he had been exiled, yesterday, to Debishire. Next, I asked why he would want to keep us hostage. He did not reply. The last question I asked startled both of us. I asked, Do you respect Robert, Jeremy, Ammey, and I as human beings, children, or monsters?
