And I'm apologizing in advance if any of this sounds confrontational or just downright rude. I'm fairly certain that it will. But please keep in mind that this specific blog session is because I've been thinking on this and thought maybe some young men & women could benefit from what I'm about to write.
Here goes...
I bet that just about every girl has had the experience of a guy revving his engine when he is in close proximity and then drive away.
My question is...
What is he thinking?!
I don't know if we will ever know.

But here's what I think when a guy revs his engine and then pulls away. (This happens quite a bit at work. So I decided to blog about it.) :)
1) I get scared by big, unexpected noises. Do you really want to scare me?...
2) Are you trying to make me feel small and inferior? If so, it's working!
3) Why are you driving away so quickly? I don't even get a good look at you! (Sometimes not even a glimpse!)
4) Your fast driving tells me you might not be a marvelous driver. Therefore, I might not trust you even though I've never actually seen or met you!
5) Do you realize that revving your engine may be seen as a cat call? Yep, that's how a female sees it. Especially in Alaska. You see girl, you rev engine, you drive away because... ?
6) Why do you even rev your engine? Is there actually a point to it?
I'm sorry if any part of this blog seemed rude. But like I said earlier, this happens to me a LOT at work (I spend about 30-45 minutes of my time, in a 7 hour shift, outside) and I was just thinking about the different reasons that a guy might be revving his engine. It's almost guaranteed that I will hear the rev of an engine at LEAST once every day that I am at work. I can honestly say that I don't remember seeing the driver's face after hearing the revving of an engine. I don't think I can remember seeing the driver's face EVER! With my experiences, the driver generally turns his face the other way so that you cannot see his face. Doesn't it just make you curious?
With that said, again I apologize if any of this sounds rude. But to make it better... Here are a few suggestions to any guy who reads this who would rather impress or be nice to a girl than make her question his intentions.
1) If you have seen her before and she's going to her car, offer to carry escort her and carry any bags or books she might have (you don't have to offer to carry her purse).
2) Pay her a compliment. All girls love a compliment! You can even do this one if you don't know her!
3) If she is trying to cross the street and your vehicle can stop traffic and allow her to pass, DO IT! (You'll probably get a smile or wave from her that way!)
Well, I believe that is all for this blog. And yet again, I apologize if any of this sounded rude.
This may be followed up by even more courteous suggestions for young men. Maybe not... I'm still undecided.
P.S. To any young man who may read this,
If you are nice to girls when you first meet them they will be more likely to talk to you and go on dates with you. And that may be what you're hoping to get to when you rev your engine, yes?
