Little Things
Julia A. Carney
"Little drops of water,
Little grains of sand,
Make the mighty ocean
And the beauteous land.
And the little moments,
Humble though they be,
Make the mighty ages
Of eternity.
So our little errors
Lead the soul away,
From the paths of virtue
Into sin to stray.
Little deeds of kindness,
Little words of love,
Make our earth an Eden,
Like the heaven above."
I love this, it sounds like a song or hymn.
The little things in life are what make life and the world seem so big.
The little moments are what make things happen. Simple prayers can make big things happen.
An example is the story of Joseph Smith. He was the prophet who restored the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He knelt in prayer, at the young age of 14, and asked Heavenly Father which church to join. Heavenly Father told Joseph to join none of the churches. He told Joseph that none of the churches on the earth at that time was the true church. Over the next several years, Joseph learned more of what Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ wanted him to do in order to restore the true church of Jesus Christ.
Because a young boy of 14 prayed in the year 1820 to know which church he should join, I am able to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the year 2010.
How grateful I am for that prayer almost 200 years ago.
We all sin. But we can also repent. By realizing our sin, confessing our sin to Heavenly Father, asking forgiveness from Heavenly Father, asking forgiveness from any who our sin may have affected, and forgiving ourselves for the sin we come closer to our Heavenly Father.
I know that service is what Heavenly Father wants us to do.
When Jesus Christ came and dwelt upon the earth, He served many. He served because He loves us.
I serve and go to church because I love the Savior and Heavenly Father.
And I know that if I love Heavenly Father and I obey the commandments that He has given me, I will be where I need to be in life and that things in my life will fall into place or drop out of my life completely.
