I thought growing up and becoming an adult happened once, when you turned 18. But I sure was wrong.
This past year I've grown up a lot.
I graduated from high school.
I became a member of the singles branch.
I got my first calling in church.
I fell for my first guy.
I introduced a guy to my parents.
I spent most of my time away from family while I went to college and worked.
I attended the reception of one of my friends.
And I finally turned 18.
But then I keep on growing up.
In one of my colleges classes 3 of my classmates I had classes with in high school. It's weird seeing us all grown up and going off to college, ready to make an impact on the world.
And then today I found out that one of my friends, that I've known for several years, is engaged! She's only a few months older than me but she's already planning her wedding and reception.
That time for me is probably closer for me than I realize, but I bet it will be a while yet.
Growing up is a strange process. But guess what? It's just like learning, it NEVER ends.
